Son of a professional musician, the Austrian composer Thomas Doss was born in Linz June 6, 1966. At age seven he saw his first musical experience through the horn and trombone.
He studied trombone, direction and composition at Linz (Bruckner Conservatory), Salzburg, Vienna, and Los Angeles Maastricht. Aged twenty years ago, he collaborated with orchestras national and international audience Wiener Kammerorchester (against which he made his conducting debut at the Wiener Konzerthaus in 1988), Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonic Budweis symphony orchestra State of Quedlinburg (which he is principal conductor from 1990 to 1993), Harzer Konzertorchester.
Thomas Doss returns to Linz in 1993. He teaches the direction of wind bands in the music school of Upper Austria, and the music school in the city. He also teaches at Vienna. He is titular head of the Youth Symphony Orchestra from Upper Austria and the proposed wind symphony Schärding. His teaching activities extend into his works orchestration and management.
It is eleven years since Thomas Doss made his first steps into the world of composition. Since then, his compositional skills were recognized with numerous awards and honors.
So to speak, he writes that command works, this does not prevent its catalog to be abundant. His compositions show great stylistic flexibility.
