The RSS standard represents a simple way to be kept informed of new content on a website without having to consult.
Basically, an RSS feed is a file containing the title information, a brief description and a link to a page describing in detail the information.
There are typically two ways to use RSS:
The use of RSS son for his personal information. Thus, the user can view an RSS reader in one place the latest news from dozens, sometimes hundreds of websites without having to visit them without having to provide personal information.
The use of RSS son by a webmaster in order to syndicate content, that is to say automatically publish its own site or blog some information from other sites. This is the case, for example on this site offers three RSS feeds, news, articles and blog.
You can read RSS feeds on your web browser (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer 7 +), your mail software (Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird for example) or by installing software (and free) you can follow several streams RSS (with Firefox add-Brief is recommended).
Usually they are represented by the following icon: (On this site following the acronym is used: )
When you see this icon on a site, that means the webmaster has documented the news of his site in a special file available to you, so you do not have time to browse this site to learn any news.
On this site, in the box left side, you will find a few RSS feeds from sites of general interest.
Feel free to consult them.
